2009.091.001Description
A 314-page hardcover book on the history and cultivation of the dahlia. The author, Henrietta Stout, was an early president of the Garden Club of America and one of the original founders of the Nine of Spades that became the Short Hills Garden Club.
The title is in gold on the dark green linen cover which has two oval stains near the center of the cover several small stains below them. The two center stains have faint white edges around an unblemished center. The numerous other small stains seem to be tiny splattered material. The back cover has light overall soiling. Edges of the cover are worn, corners are bumped, top and bottom of the spine are frayed, and the front flyleaf is detaching from the spine and has overall soiling. Lead and red pencil marks are scattered throughout the book. Pages are yellowed, especially around the edges. Back flyleaf has overall soiling, as does the back cover pastedown.Acquisition
