Parsil to his family dated October 19, 1862 written on 27th NJ Infantry stationery and describing the trip from Newark, NJ through Philadelphia and Baltimore, to the camp not far from Washington, D.C. Mentions that their camp was near a spring that was poisoned by the Rebels, 2-3 weeks prior, resulting in the deaths of 203 men. The Regiment was reviewed by General Casey and Major General Banks.
