1976.021.021Description
Owned by Julius and Charles Wittkop, the building had been the home of Israel D. Condit before conversion to an Inn, known as the Vaux Hall Inn. In the mid 1930's the building was demolished and a Woolworth's 5 & 10 store occupied the site. Now it is the building in which Goldberg's Famous Deli is located (325 Millburn Avenue). Porch is probably the viewing stand for the parade for local and invited dignitaries.
This photograph shows the Vaux Hall Inn, decorated for the Semi-Centennial Celebrations in Millburn on April 13, 1907. According to the Newark Evening News, the parade route went along Millburn Avenue to Main Street and along that thoroughfare to Hobart Avenue to Short Hills Avenue to Morris Avenue in Springfield and returning along Main Street to Millburn Avenue to the firehouse.Acquisition
