Photograph of the Aaron F. Ross Homestead on Parsonage Hill Road at Long Hill taken in 1872. According to the identification label glued to the bottom of the photograph: Seated on the steps are Miss Alice Ross (daughter of Aaron F. Ross), Miss Anna Denman (her niece) and Steven Briggs (cousin). The house was built about 1790 and Aaron Ross moved from the Chatham Bridge area about 1815 after serving in the War of 1812. He married Hannah Drew. daughter of John Drew of the Ridge. The small room on the left of the building is a churn house, where his dog provided the power on a treadmill. The two "spinster" daughters, Misses Alice and Phoebe Ross, died in 1895 and 1897.
