Benjamin C. Fincke was born in 1875 and lived on Highland Avenue, Short Hills. The1905 census lists his occupation as poultry farmer. In 1906, he was elected Secretary and Treasurer of The American Exhibition Game and Game Bantam Club, an organization founded in 1888 to classify games and bantams for exhibition (and sale). In 1912, he became second vice president of the club. Among the club officers were: Robert Dudley Winthrop (President 1898), T.A. Havemeyer, who served as President c. 1899-1908.
Fincke was an early automobile collector. In 1910 he entered his Pope-Hartford car in the Vanderbilt Cup Race.Acquisition
