Description

The Jefferson School was one of three schools in existence in 1857, when Millburn was established. A simple one-room wooden schoolhouse, it operated until 1906, after which time elementary grade students were sent to the Washington, Short Hills or Wyoming Schools. This photograph is dated 1889, when Miss Emma J. Baker was the teacher. Pictured are: Miss Emma J. Baker, teacher-gentleman teacher unidentified.
