Description

Souvenir License Plate produced for the US Bicentennial Celebrations in New Jersey 1975-1977. The Senate passed a bill allowing cars to display special commemorative license plates in New Jersey in February 1975. The official design, which has Crossroads of the Revolution in an arch at the top and features 13 5 pointed stars in a circle with NJ 76 in red, white and blue also contains the dates that the plate was valid (July 1, 1975-February 1, 1977). The plates were allowed to be displayed on the front of the vehicle and over the regular front license plate. They were available for purchase thorough nonprofit organizations or official local and county bicentennial committees for $3.00. Proceeds from the sale of license plates were used to fund events during the bicentennial year.
