Charles H. Stout house built on one of the original Hartshorn Estate Inc. properties in the English Tudor style. The house was later owned by Admiral Albert G. Mumma.
Architects Wainright Parish and James Langdon Schroeder make extensive use of "strapwork," and ornament particular to Medieval Revival style. Here it appears over the front entrance. It consists of decorative wood scrollwork that somewhat resembles leather straps and contrasts with the half-timbering of the gable.
Henrietta Stout was a well known horticulturalist, famous for her dahlias. Her brother, James Langdon Schroeder, was the architect of the house.Collection
