Signed Alice Boughton photograph of Bonnie Snow with photographers mark in white and black paint on matte below photograph. Photograph has a triple matte with 3 shades of gray and a folder with the photographers mark. Alice Boughton (1866-1943) was born in Brooklyn and studied photography at Pratt School of Art and Design in New York during the 1880s, where she met Gertrude Käsebier. In 1890, she opened her own studio on East 23rd Street in New York, where she specialized in photographs of literary and theatrical personalities. Boughton traveled to Europe in 1901 and was introduced to Arthur Stieglitz the following year. She became part of Stieglitz’s Photo Secessionist Group and exhibited widely throughout first part of the 20th century. Boughton’s photographs are in most major US photography collections.
