Photograph of Dr. Thayer Smith examining school children in Millburn. Thayer Smith, who lived at 17 Forest Drive in Short Hills, was one of two Millburn school physician during the 1930s and 40s, a position mandated by New Jersey law. He was also in charge of the Wyoming Clinic, worked with the Neighborhood Association to provide free health care, including vaccinations, to the community. The photograph comes from the collection of images taken by Ira Schwartz, many of which were copies of other images, for the Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society and includes two photographs of his house.Collection
