Hartel: Evelyn Hartel Diary, 1992-93Entry/Object ID
2004.050.001Description
Asian-fabric covered diary with embossed, blue leather or leather-like spine and corners. Front cover is slightly warped and there is edge wear on all edges and on the spine. Front flyleaf is soiled an spotted; back flyleaf has inked message from the student who gave the diary to Hartel. Only about one quarter of the diary has writing on it. The diary was purchased by the donor at the ca. 2000 estate sale at Evelyn Hartel's house at 47 Winding Way in Short Hills. Pat kept it for a while, then donated it to the historical society. Per the message at the end of the diary, it was given to "Professor Hartel" by a student at FIT, where Hartel apparently taught art or fashion drawing. Some of the contents are related to FIT work and the rest are 1992-1993 entries about Hartel's married life.Acquisition
