William Frisby was born in England in c. 1793 and emigrated to the United States with his wife Rebecca Ely Frisby in 1822. A tailor by trade, he settled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and established a lucrative clothing manufacturing business, before settling in Millburn Township in the 1850s.
The Frisby's had 4 children: Mary Ann, Emeline (Mrs. Peter Shapter), Sarah (d. November 3, 1912) and Rebecca (later Mrs. William Shapter). William Frisby died in 1880.Collection
