Two-Sided SH Train Station Photo Pre-1907 (Incorrect Identification)-SMS School, 1958 grade 1 photoEntry/Object ID
2011.004.004Description
Two-sided, sepia, glossy photo of the earlier Short Hills train station, after it had been enlarged from the original station. The photo appears to be printed on a woven (linen?) textile. One side of the photo is of the rear of the building, where horses and carriages are seen waiting. The other side is of the east side of the building, with two tracks and a train on each track (so NY is behind the photographer. An early automobile is on the side of the building. Written on the bottom of the trains-side photo is: "011567 Short Hills Station , DL & W Ry" on the left and "Detroit Photographic Co" on the right. The building in the photo was replaced by 1907, so the photo predates that. The photo corners are bumped, there is a 1/2" tear on the top border of the photo; all edges are worn and there is light overall soiling. Purchased on eBay, apparently.Acquisition
