Edward Telfair (1735 – September 17, 1807) was a Scottish-born American Founding Father and politician who served as the Governor of the state of Georgia between 1786 and 1787, and again from 1790 through 1793. He was a member of the Continental Congress, and one of the signers of the Articles of Confederation.
Gen. James' (D. S.)Meriwether, was a lieutenant and captain in the Virginia State and Continental lines during the whole course of the American Revolution, and was honorably discharged at its close. While in service he was known as James Meriwether, D. S. (David's son), to distinguish him from his cousin, who was James' son, and was known as James Meriwether, D. L. (Dabney's Legion). After his discharge from the army at the close of the war he moved to Georgia. He was secretary of the Executive Department, Comptroller-General, and held other offices of high trust continuously for twenty years."Collection
