To Georgia Govenor Ruger, a letter dated June 9th, 1868

Context

Letter questions the oath of loyalty to the state required after the war. Mr. Bagwell's initials are believed to be S or a G. followed by B. He makes several arguments to the govenor requesting exemption from the oath taking. He did not support the Rebel Party war yet was forced to serve, he was under the age of 21 at the time of service and was disabled (loss of a leg) as a result of his service.
