John B Broadwell home shown here as Mr. John B's restaurant after relocation on Mayfield closer to the main intersection of Crabapple near the cotton gin.Context
Son of Jesse Broadwell, one of the first colonial settlers in Crabapple, John B. Broadwell was a farmer, plant breeder, merchant, miller and inventor was the original owner. Eventually the house that had been remodeled in 1913 fell into a sad state. Ruby and Lloyd Pittman purchased the home, remodeled it into a restaurant, carefully keeping true to the homes original vintage as much as possible. A historic marker and the building interior that remains today are located at Milton's restaurant in Crabapple. During the move down Mayfield and restoration in the early 1990's over 20 local businesses and antique dealers from several states participated on the project with the Pittman's.Collection
