Subject
Milton High Schooler Smith and a "Chain" pigContext
An example of Milton's agriculture past. Four pure bred Black Poland China Sows and one boar were purchased by the Agriculture Instructor at Milton High School, P. L. Elkins and given to students to raise. The first generation brought forth 24 new pigs, 16 of which were females This project had its genesis from economic need as well as teaching. The students at Milton High School could not afford the pigs on their own. The mothers and pigs became sole property of the boys. The hope was that over time 650 pure breds would be available for the farms in the area.Collection
