Reseach housed at the Emory University Special Collections include the Dorris Store's Leger Books and Miscellaneous Papers. James Dorris and his Cherokee Indian wife, Nancy Cook Dorris, owned and operated a trading post (Dorris store) that dealt with both Whites and Cherokees. The documents cover the years between 1832-1869 and include Mr. Dorris' will and describe sales transactions that provide a fascinating glimpse into the everyday life of both White and Indian citizens.
