Description

This SADF Mortar is the French 60mm M63, a Parachute Illuminating (Para-Illum), Base-Detonating (BD), Mechanical-Time-Fuze (MTF), fin-stabilised, carrier Mortar-Bomb. This Mortar-Bomb has a Magnesium based filling and is suspended from a parachute. The light persists for a minimum of 35-seconds and produces 300,000 candle-power while descending at a rate of 4m/s. The Mortar-Bomb has a mechanical fuze, graduated from 5 to 35-seconds in 1/2 seconds.
