Description

Yarn Reel secured to wooden base. Reel appears to be made of cast iron parts pained in either black or yellow (mustard yellow - tan ). The reel is built to take yarn from 4 cones, however only 2 are attached at the moment. The reel base is 70 by 42 cm and the feet raise the base about 2 inches off the ground. The reel itself has i diameter of 40 cm, giving the whole device a total height of 58 cm. The base has a brand logo cast in metal fixed to the side with text as follows: [ GOODBRAND & CO LTD. / MANCHESTER & STALYBRIDGE ] This label is cast in metal and bolted to the base, but there are no other indications of origin. The only other indication of origin for this object are the labels printed on the yarn cones attached to the machine. These cones may not be original to the machine but they do provide the following information as found on their manufacturer's tags. Cone a, (2016.16.01.a) Magenta pink, wool, standard cardboard cone size with a diameter of 7 cm and a height of 17 cm. label is as follows : [ THE ROSAMOND WOOLLEN CO. LTD. M214 ALMONTE, ONT (illegible word written in blue ink, contains f, o, u, and other letters, total of 6 letters) COUNT / STOCK/ COLOR/ ORDER NO. BATCH NO. / 30110 B / ORL / FINEWINE / 7801 / 10063 ] Cone B, (2016.16.01.B) rose pink, wool, standard cardboard cone size with a diameter of 7 cm and a height of 17 cm. label is as follows : [ THE ROSAMOND WOOLLEN CO. LTD. / (illegible word written in blue ink, contains f, o, u, and other letters, total of 9 letters) ALMONTE, ONT / M481 / COUNT / STOCK/ COLOR/ ORDER NO.
