657 WELLINGTON CRESCENT
WINNIPEG
Dear Mr. Gregg. My late cousin Winifred Gemmill left a note in her will that the family papers were to come to me. These have arrived, in three large trucks, literally thousands & thousands of dollars, bills, and cheques etc, and I have been looking the first of which [word unknown] obees. The enclosed I thought might be of interest to you or some one in almonte who is implicated in the past. Please keep these, pass these on or destory these my great grandfather John A. Gemmill who built the “Homestead “ appears to have kept a store in the back of the house where he outfitted date [word unknown] for the lumber trade. There One hundreds of bills for merchandize dated between 1827 - 037 - -
Also of piles of letters of little interest except for the post . Those R - rescue stamps -- -- bearing stamped “Bytown- Collect five pence.” Jannet kept them all, but before destroying them I felt I’d like to ask you if they would be of any value to persons in almonte.
I hope to call on you in the spring will let you know before hand what day.
