Scope and Content

Two page letter on paper with heading 'The Mining News, Sudbury Ontario'. The letter to someone's Uncle. The newfew had attended a meeting for Borden the night before and chatted to Borden about North Lanark. He states that Borden felt confident that Thoburn would win. Borden would be running against Laurier. According to the text on the back of page two the letter was either to or from Jas. F. Templeton. Transcription of artifact is as follows: [starting on page b] THE MINING NEWS Sudbury, Ontario Octo 10, 08 Dear Uncle / We had a rousing meeting last night for Borden, very [spelling uncertain] nearly 2000 of an audience, and the remarkable part was that scarcely an individual left the building until the finish. I had a short chat with Borden about North Lanark and he seems to feel absolutely certain that Hoburn will win. How do you feel about it? Do you think I [the following is written on page a] Could do you any good in a quiet way for a few days? We seem to have it quite secure here but of course we are digging in and I have plenty to do.
