The "Bird of Paradise" Coverlet is a figured and fancy jacquard coverlet woven by Edward Graf of Gasline, Ontario. A signature block in the bottom corners says "Bird of Paradise". The design is of "Bird of Paradise" features beautiful swooping birds and floral elements. The coverlet was woven from blue wool and natural cotton, and was produced at some time between 1875 and 1900.
`Beginning in the late 1860s, Graf wove on a wide jacquard loom acquired from the United States. It produced doublewidth coverlets without centre seams as well as figural designs which were more to the fashionable tastes of the times` from
