Description

Wool Dye dipper. Probably 250 - 300 yrs old. Made of Basswood. Donor bought it about 1980, in an auction in or near Kingston Ontario, it was in an old apple box, along with other old items. A weavers society's from Red Deer Alberta, the president of the local weavers had given the photos out at her meeting to her members, one of her members had taken the pics home, and her 94 year old mother said that when she was little, she remembered visiting her grandmother and watching her use the exact same article to dip the sheep's wool into the dye. the lady came from Ireland. Donor came across a plate showing it being used by an old weaver.
