The black and white photograph shows the Almonte Flour Mill and the Middle Falls. The foreground and middleground shows the Middle Falls and the simple wooden dams set up. There are five individuals towards the right of the image standing near the biggest dam. Behind the biggest dam, a calm Mississippi River is visible. In the background, the Almonte Flour Mill is visible towards the left side of the image. The CPR Bridge stretches across the background. There are various trees in the background.
Above and below the image, there is a light grey empty space. The edge of the image is slightly curved at the top. There is a black line/shape at the top of the space. The image and the empty space are surrounded by a thin white border.
On the reverse side of the photograph, "2-7" is written in pencil or light black ink at the top-centre of the photo. In the top-right corner, "I13" is written in black ink. In the centre of the photo, "Early view of Middle Falls (Old Print)" is written in blue ink. In the bottom-left corner, the Object ID is written in pencil.Collection
