Description

John Noll, c.1870 - 1875 Tied double cloth coverlet. Monochrome pattern of cadmium red wool on a natural white cotton ground. The garlands of roses in the corners identify it as the product of John Noll who was an apprentice of Aaron Zelner and worked with his brother in Petersburg, Ontario. The pattern is similar to ones from Pennsylvania and was likeley influenced by Zelner. John Noll was known for his coverlets while William specialized in horse blankets.
