Description

Johan and Henry Lippert, c. 1875 - 1890 Monochrome coverlet of cadmium red wool on natural white cotton with a heavy double ply design. Made in Petersburg, Waterloo county by Johan Lippert and his son Henry who purchased a double wide loom with Jacquard head from the United States in 1870. The most notable feature are the four angels holding laurel crowns. It has a thick floral border. Henry Lippert's daughter described a pattern called "The Church" which matches the pattern seen in this coverlet.
