Description

Likely Daniel Knetchtel, c. 1875 - 1890 Cadmium red wool on natural white cotton. Tied double cloth. The weaver has not been conclusively identified but it strongly resembles Daniel Knetchtel’s style with a large central medallion and thick floral/leafy border. This pattern has not been found in the United States and lacks an identifying cartouche which is common in the US so it may be of Canadian origin.
