Description

A photograph showing a collection of people (likely members of the town's pride committee) standing in front of the Old Almonte Town Hall. They are all wearing face masks and are respecting social distancing rules (6 feet apart). Everyone is hold a rainbow or trans pride flag. There is a rainbow flag hanging from the town hall. In the front row of the group, the MVTM curator Michael Rikley-Lancaster and Mississippi Mills mayor Christa Lowry are standing. This photo was taken shortly after the pride flag that hung at the museum was torn down and vandalized. This meeting was a reconfirmation that the town denounced the act and supported LGBTQ rights. The MVTM flag was replaced by a donation, and the community raised thousands of dollars to put flags up at other local businesses. This photograph was taken during the COVID-19 pandemic.
