To all to whom these presents shall come I James Thompson of the Town of Perth in the County of Lanark and Province of Canada Esquire Sheriff of the United Counties of Lanark and Renfrew

Whereas on the sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four a certain writ of execution of our Lady the Queen was issued out of Her Majesty’s Court of Queen’s Bench for Upper Canada at Toronto at the suit of Henry Rose and Ira Samuel Rose against the lands and tenements of Daniel Shipman deceased at the time of his death in the Hands of Daniel Harvey Shipman administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Daniel Shipman deceased at the time of his death which said writ is in the words following

To the Sheriff of the United [“kingdom” was originally written then crossed out] Counties of Lanark and Renfrew Greeting We command you that you cause to be made of the [“said” has been crossed out] lands and tenements in your Bailiwick which were of Daniel Shipman Deceased at the time of his death [a sentence was written and then crossed out here] in the hands of Daniel Harvey Shipman administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Daniel Shipman deceased at the time of his death to be administered the sum of five hundred and thirty three dollars and fifty two cents which in our Court of Queen’s Bench before the justices of our said Court at Toronto were awarded to Henry Rose and [unknown word] Samuel Rose for their damages which they had sustained as well by reason of not performing certain promises and undertakings then lately made by the said Daniel Shipman in his lifetime] to the said Henry Rose and [unknown word] samuel Rose as for their costs and charges by them about their suit in that behalf expended whereas the said Daniel Harvey Shipman as administrator as aforesaid is convicted as appears of second and have now that money before our justices aforesaid at Toronto Immediately after the expiration of one year from the [the following is written on the back of the front page]

And whereas the said writ was so renewed on the third day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty five and was on the said third day of April be delivered unto me for execution And whereas afterwards on the Tenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty five a certain other writ of Execution called an Alias writ of Fieri Facias of our Lady the Queen was issued out of Her Majesty’s said court of Queen’s Bench of Upper Canada on Toronto an the suit of the said Henry Rose and Ira [Spelling unsure ] Samuel Rose against the lands and tenements of the said Daniel Shipman deceased at the time of his death in the hands of Daniel Harvey Shipman Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Daniel Shipman deceased at the time of his death wherein said last mentioned writ is in the words following [spelling uncertain]

And whereas the said writ was afterwards and on the Tenth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty five endorsed and unto me delivered in due form of Law to be executed By virtue whereof I the said sheriff did seize into my hands and take in execution All and singular that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate lying and being in the Township of Ramsay in the County of Lanark described as R R on the seam of the Estate of the late of Daniel Shipman made by Ben O’Cromwell containing forty three acres be the same more or less being composed of a part of the East half of lot number sixteen in the ninth concession of the said township of Ramsay which said tract of land is butted and bounded or may be otherwise known as follows that is to say commencing on the allowance for road in rear of the said ninth concession and on the limit between lots numbers sixteen and seventeen thence south thirty six degrees east eleven chains fifty six inches then north thirty five degrees west nineteen chains sixty inches more or less to the centre of the bed of the hereto [spelling uncertain] branch of the Mississippi River thence on a northerly course three chains more or less to opposite the centre of the channel between the stream [spelling uncertain] shown on said plan thence on a westerly course in the
