Scope and Content

A single page folded in half, the yellow page is 42 by 33 cm, each individually written on in black ink. Seems to be an agreement written in standared deed format by J.A. Gemmill & Macdonnell Barristers and soclicitors. this writting appears to be J. A. Gemmill as this writting is consistant with the letter formation Gemmill used for his signatures on these and other documents. this document is a duplicate of an agreement between Bennet Rosamond and another party, i am not sure of the name, but I can make out [ Picidilly Londan England] as the location of party 2. Full Transcription 2014.07.35 - PROOFED This Indenture made in duplicate the Twelfth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy three Between William rosamond Formerly of the Village of Almonte in the County of Lanark and Province of Ontario Woollen Manufacturer but now of Picadilly London England and George Stephen of the city of Montreal in the Province of Quebec Merchant of the first part Annie Charlotte Stephen of the said city wife of the said George Stephen of the Second Part and Bennet rosamond of the village of Almonte aforesaid Woollen Manufacturer of the Third Part Witnesseth that [a, unknown character] the said parties of the First Part in consideration of the sum of seven thousand three hundred dollars lawful money of Canada to them in Hand paid at or before the ensealing and Delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and quit claim and by these presents do bargain sell and quit claim unto the said party of the third part and his heirs and assigns forever all this their right title interest claim property estate and demand both at law and in equity and as well in possession as in expecting of in and to all those certain parcels or tracts of lands and premises situate lying and being in the village of Almonte in the County of Lanark and Province of Ontario Dominion of Canada containing by admeasurent forty eight acres be the same more or less being composed of the various parts of the East Half of Farm Lot number sixteen in the ninth concession of the township of Ramsay but now within the limits of the said village of Almonte described as follows that is to say first commencing where a post has been planted at the most northerly angle of said East half of lot number sixteen then South fifty four degrees West following the side line between Lots number sixteen and seventeen twenty nine chains more or less to the centre of the channell, of the Mississippi River then in an Easterly course following the centre of said river against the stream ten chains more or less then North fifty four degrees east three chains and sixty links more or less to the center of the mouth of the North Channell of said river then following the centre of said North channell against the stream six chains more or less to where the western boundary of the Mitcheson Estate or the boundary produced strikes the center of said channel then North thirty [the following is written on the right panel inside the fold] five degrees east nineteen chains sixty links more or less to the allowance for road between the ninth and tenth concessions of the said township of Ramsay then north thirty six degrees West eleven chains fifty six links more or less to the place of beginning and secondly village lots numbers nineteen twenty twenty one twenty two and twenty three on Wellington street Twenty four Twenty five Twenty six Twenty seven Twenty eight - Twenty nine- Thirty - Thirty One - Thirty two and Thirty three on Clayton Street seven Thirty four Thirty five Thirty six thirty seven Thirty eight - Thirty nine - Forty -Forty one Forty two and Forty three on Mary Street Forty four Forty five Forty six Forty seven Forty eight Forty nine fifty -
