Description

Chantilly lace. Test piece. Most likely a test piece for a large piece of lace because there is a definite start and end. Lille Ground, but note the filling of Kat Stitch which is used within the scalloped leaves and flowers. Kat stitch was the original ground used in early Chantilly, however, it took considerably longer to work and following the introduction of machine made lace the simplified Lille ground was used in an effort to produce the lace more quickly.
