VIDEO INTERVIEW Interviewer: Terri Clarke Interview Date: June 22, 2013 Anna Marie started working as a winder and did not enjoy working at the mill as she felt she did not have the hand skills for it. Her grandfather Jim Abram was a chemist in the dye room and her aunts worked in the weaving room where they frequently had to fix the machines in order to start working. Although he had no formal education, Jim Abram was described as extremely intelligent and knowledgable. Her father worked in the dye room as well as shipping and receiving. Her family worked in the mill for over thirty years. Anna Marie talked about the lack of safety protocols in the mill. She talked about community life and how there were many mills in town that were easy to move between when production was booming during the war. She also worked at Petersons Ice Cream plant for a summer job. She also talked about what mill workers did for fun. Video recording available.
