TRANSCRIBED VIDEO INTERVIEW - video available Interviewer: Kathy Priddle Interview Date: June 14, 2013 Gerry was instrumental in making the mill a museum. He said the mill used to produce “more woolen goods than the rest of Canada put together” and that it was in “derelict” condition when they went to it in the late 1980s. The national research council helped with object loans and the national capital commission spearheaded the project. Gerry talked about how founding the museum was a community awareness accomplishment. He talked about the Our Heritage column in the Almonte Gazette newspaper, as well as how the director of the museum is very good at applying for grants for the museum. He talked about building maintenance, education, getting the mill to have national historic site status, machine history, talked about the dye house, and insurance maps.
