TRANSCRIBED VIDEO INTERVIEW - video available Interviewer: Terri Clarke Interview Date: June 12, 2013 Elsa’s parents worked at mills in Carleton place in the 1930s. They were transferred from England and lived in a boarding house. Her father was a dyer with an educational background in chemistry and later became an inspector. Her mother was a weaver and she worked as a seamstress as well. Both worked in various mills. The people who moved from England in the ‘30s because they were skilled in the mill business to occupy the various ones in the area. Her parents joined different clubs and sang in church choir.
