TRANSCRIBED INTERVIEW - no video Interviewer: Robert Cooper Interview Date: 2010s Frances Cooper was born in 1938 and in her interview she talks about her family who worked for the Jamieson family and lived on their property. Her mother was a cook for the Jamiesons, her father was their gardener and chauffeur and she had aunts who worked as maids. She spent the first year of her life living in an appartment above the Jamiesons' garage. Her parents bought a farm when she was a year old. She describes interior of the farmhouse and what it was like to grow up on a farm. She talks about the kind of work that her father did on the farm and how he never owned a car or tractor as he prefered horses. She describes the animals and crops they raised and the kind of injuries she sustained from farm work. She talks about her father's death, the funeral and how friends and family came to help them with farm work until her mom sold the farm. Frances went to teachers college and talks about her experience there. She worked stocking shelves at Stedman's and worked for Margaret Duncan at the Duncan's egg farm. She talks about entertainment in Almonte including a play that the helped put on the rais money to restore the Trinity United Church after a fire. old text Frances was born in 1938, her parents and aunts worked at the Jamieson house, who were the mill owners. She spoke about Percy Jamieson and the Thoburn family. During the Depression, her father was a gardener and a chauffeur, her mother and aunt worked as maids cleaning the fireplaces.
