VIDEO INTERVIEW - video available
Interviewer: Terri Clarke
Interview Date: July 5, 2013
Charlie Dalton's mother's family was heavily involved in the Rosamond mill as his mother and her siblings worked there. There were 11 or 12 members of his family who worked in the mill and this income was very important to them. His father was the lockmaster of the Kilmarnoc locks on the Rideau Canal from 1920 until his death in 1941. Bruce's family lived part time in the lockmasters house and helped cut the grass there. He recounts the different kinds of boats he saw travelling between Ottawa and Kingston. In his interview he talks about the health effects that working in the mill had on his family and community.Collection
