TRANSCRIBED VIDEO INTERVIEW - video available Interviewer: Roberta Murant Interview Date: July 23, 2013 Michael came to the interview with Almonte insurance maps from 1889 and 1907 which showed where the waterways are in the town and how the mills would use them for hydro power. He shows on the maps the way the water flowed through the town and where the flumes would have been that took water into the mills. He explained how water was brought into the Rosamond mill and the dye house and how it would have been used. He talked about his father John Dunn, a local historian, who conducted a lot of research on the town, as well as Parks Canada, James Rosamond, and the Victoria Mill. He discussed the quality of Rosamond fibres and the decline of the mill industry. Michael says that he became more passionate about history after his wife passed away in 1998. He began digitizing his father's research and started one of the first websites dedicated to Almonte's history. He has a large collection of historic photographs from the area.
