TRANSCRIBED INTERVIEW - audio on cassette tape, no video Interviewer: Janice Martin Interview Date: August 18, 1988 Old Red Mill 1929-31; Rosamond Mill, 1944-84 Bob worked at the Old Red Mill as a spinner with doffing. In his interview he explains what doffing is and what kind of products they made with doffed material. He worked at the old red mill for two years. He talked about working for a funeral director who opperated ambulance services in Almonte and the surrounding area. Bob's job invovled collecting the deceased and injured from in the ambulance. His first job at the Rosamond mill was running the dryer. He talked about the drying machine and explained the responsibility of working in management as well as wages and taxes. He spoke about textiles being a vital industry in the town. He talks about World War Two, how the mills contributed to the war effort and the emplyement that the war created. His father worked as a dramer delivering coal and wood to fuel the boilers in the Rosamond Mill. He also mentioned the train wreck of 1942.
