In his interview he talks about the history of the Rosamond family including Alex Rosamond who was killed in World War One. The Rosamond family was originally from France and moved to Holland because they were Protestant some time before the 16th century. In 1690 they travelled to Ireland to fight for William of Orange and they stayed there until they came to Canada around 1825. Alex says that when the Rosamonds came to Canada they were ashamed of being Irish and "instantly became Scottish". After some years of selling alchohol in Ogdensburg, New York, they returned to Canada with money and began investing in various different kinds of mills. One of the Rosamond brothers who came over from Ireland went to Memphis, Tennessee and was a commander in the Confederate military during the U.S. Civil War. He had the Rosamond bell made from a cannon he used during the war and gave it to the Rosamonds of Almonte. Hughes has worked and volunteered with the textile museum since 1985 and was president of the board. Video was mislabelled as "Alec Hughes" old text descendant of Rosamond family Alex’s grandfather was Alex Rosamond who was killed in World War 1, and his brother Archie took over management of the mill, he gave a sort of genealogy of the Rosamond family and told the story of how they came to Canada. He also talked about railway development and community life. Alex worked with the museum but said he had no knowledge of the mill itself. Video recording unavailable.
