TRANSCRIBED VIDEO INTERVIEW - video available Interviewer: Marilyn Snedden Interview Date: August 15, 2013 David and Donald Jamieson are twins born in 1958. They grew up in Ottawa but their grandparents lived in Almonte and they were born there while their mother was visiting. They visited their grandfather in Almonte often while growing up. In their interview they recall what Almonte, its businesses and buildings looked like when they were kids. They also talked about their grandparents' experience living in Almonte during the Great Depression. They said that their grandparents lived along the railway and that crime was common along the railway because people travelling looking for work would steal from yards of houses along the tracks but their family wasnt robbed because their grandmother provided food to travellers. David and his wife got interested in the Great Depression and researched it while they were restoring their Ford Model A. David and Donald's grandfather Ernie Adams worked machine maintenence at the Rosamond Mill from the 1920s until the 1960s. They donated several objects to the mill which are shown in the video including machine parts and tools belonging to their grandfather. Video was found mislabelled as "david and donald jemison" Old Text David’s grandfather Ernie worked at the Rosamond Mill from the 1920s-1960s and was familiar with machine maintenance.
