TRANSCRIBED INTERVIEW - audio on cassette
Interviewer: Barabara White
Interview Date: August 16, 1988
Stanley was sixteen years old when he started at the mill. He was boarded at home, talked about wages, and how he worked as a doffer for six years. He moved to the film carrier to work with looms and weavers, and worked as a weaver. The mill made uniforms during the wartime boom, and he talked about the quality of the Rosamond products. There was the store that worked outside of the mill that workers would buy products from. He described the bell that would ring to divide the work day, and shift work. He described a typical work day and how he got fired from the mill for making a mistake on a pattern. Zephyr Textiles took over in around 1963 when Stanley returned as a supervisor and machine repair for winding and twisting. He enjoyed working at the mill and spoke on community life.
