TRANSCRIBED INTERVIEW - no recording available Interviewer: Michael Rikley-Lancaster Interview Date: 2013 Sheila Lang is a descendent of the Rosamond family who owned the Rosamond Mill. In her interview she talks about the history of the Rosamond family. They came over from Ireland to Almonte in the 1830s. Her grandfather was Alex Rosamond. She also talks about living at Pinehurst and the other people who lived there with her including the family and refugees who from the war. She says expanded the gardeners cottage at Pinehurst into a house where she lived as a child with her parents (maybe other grandfather not Alex). She talks about the history of Almonte including what life was like in the Great Depression, World War Two and the deadly train accident. She tells the story of Archie Rosamond who wanted to be a Broadway actor but had to take over the mill business when his brother Alex was killed in war. She explains Archie's personality and his role in the community and family. She also talks about the role that Bennett Rosamond played in local politics and building the railway.
