Interview Date: August 3, 1988
Stan Morton left school at 14 years old, his first job was as a bobbin boy and he also worked as a worster. He described the noise of the mill and explained the worsted room, the spinning mules, other machinery, and oil on the floors. He gave a detailed description of the mill building: the weaving room, looms, the warping department, pattern makers, the winding room, yarn room, finishing room, drawing room, the fulling room which was for cleaning and washing room. He also described machine maintenance, the boiler room, hydro and steam power, and the dye house. There were the workers who fixed imperfections: burlers, darners, and carders. He talked about accidents with machinery as well as compensation and insurance. For a time, he was the secretary of the union. He spoke to wages, The Depression, and the Second World War boom. He talked about the quality of Rosamond products, pranks that were made by the workers, and community life. He closed the interview talking about being an overseer.
