Irene started working in the Collie Mill in 1947 at 14 years old working with the bobbin maker on the winder. She explained what they did with bobbins and what her job as a winder was. She also talked about wages, layoffs, the dye house, and fire. She worked in the office, for 18 years doing payroll. She talked about the mill fire of 1950 and how four generations of her family worked at the mill. Laura trained as a knitter in Perth in 1981 and worked as a knitter in the Rosamond mill. Discussed the knitting machine, wages, shift work, the Collie bus, community life.
