TRANSCRIBED INTERVIEW - no video Interviewer: Marilyn Snedden Interview Date: October 21, 2014 Willis’ mother worked at Thoburn Mill, specking and weaving. Her father was a night watchman. Jenny worked as a winder before WWII, her father worked in the dye house. They discussed Archie Rosamond, the wartime boom, the dye house, the filling corner, and spinning mules. Willis and Jenny are siblings whose parents worked in textile mills. They were born in Quebec and their mother worked in the Thoburn mill. Their father worked in the dye house of the Rosamond mill. Jenny started working in the Rosamond mill as a teenager before World War Two began. She started work running the twisting and winding machines on the first floor but she was moved to spinning after a machine she was responsible for broke while she was in the bathroom. She also worked at the Collie mill before it burned down. She mentioned that it was mostly women working the spinning, twisting and winding machines. They remembered Archie Rosamond giving away 25 cent coins on halloween. They discussed Archie Rosamond, the wartime boom, the dye house, the filling corner, and spinning mules.
