Scope and Content

Type written letter on paper with letterhead from the House of Commons Canada. The letter is from George Taylor who is according to the letter the chief whip of the party. The letter discusses the printing and distriubtion of campaign literature. He is asking for a list of electors in the constituency so that the campaign literature can be distributed. Transcription of artifact is as follows: 31st March, 1908. Dear Sir, At a meeting of the Liberal-Conservative members of the House of Commons a short time ago, a committee was appointed to arrange for the printing and distribution of campaign literature throughout the whole Dominion, and at a subsequent meeting of that committee, it was decided that sufficient numbers of pamphlets would be printed to cover a portion of each Constituency. With this end in view, I, as Chief Whip of the Party have been requested to communicate with you to request that you procure and have sent to me immediately a list of the electors of your electoral district to the number of from two to three thousand, so that we may have the envelopes addressed, literature put therein, and be franked out from the House of Commons before the expiration of the session. Let me urge upon you the importance of having these lists prepared immediately, as it is absolutely essential in order that the work of distribution may be facilitated that these lists be forwarded to my address without delay. With kindest regards, Yours very truly, Gus Taylor [unknown word] [the following is written on the back of the document] 1908 Gus Taylor 31 March
