SUPREME SECRETARY ALEX STEWART, TORONTO, CAN. SUPREME TREASURER C. B. DICKSON, M.D., LOS ANGELES, CAL. SUPREME PHYSICIAN CHAS. F. VOGEL, CHICAGO, ILL. SUPREME COUNSELLOR JOHN H. LAUGHTON, LONDON, ONT. SUPREME COUNCILMAN JOHN F. LANG, BUFFALO. N.Y. SUPREME COUNCILMAN May 31st, 1926. Dear Sir and Brother: I have pleasure in enclosing your Certificate issued by The Independent Order of Foresters to replace the Certificate you formerly held in The Ancient Order of United Workmen, which kindly return to the Financier of your Lodge. You will notice that the Certificate carries exactly the same amount of whole life insurance but with surrender values after 1st July, 1927. You will also notice that the monthly premium will in future be exactly the same as you have been formerly paying, namely, your insurance assessment plus 17 cents per month to Head Office. The 17 cents payable to Head Office each month is merged with the insurance premium in order to simplify the work of the Financial Secretary. Under the former plan, this 17 cents a month was sent to the Grand Recorder-Treasurer as a separate item in the monthly reports. For example, Brother John Doe’s payment in the A. O. U. W. was $1.50 per month, his Lodge Dues 34 cents per month, or a total of $1.84. Out of the $1.84, the Financier remitted to the Grand Recorder-Treasurer $1.50 as premium and 17 cents as per capita tax for General Fund, leaving the balance of 17 cents in the treasury of the local lodge. Under the new plan, the Financial Secretary will remit for John Doe $1.67, leaving 17 cents in the funds of the local Court. The result is exactly the same in both cases, but I believe the latter plan will be more convenient for the Financial Secretary. These monthly payments may be made to the Financial Secretary, formerly the Financier, either at the meeting of the Court, formerly Lodge, or at his Office, as the case may be. The Beneficiary named in the new Certificate is your beneficiary as recorded by the Workmen. Forms for change of Beneficiary will be sent to the Financial Secretary of your Lodge, to be used if it is desired to change Beneficiary. There will be no difference in local management except where a former Lodge of the A. O. U. W., now a Forester’s Court, decides to amalgamate with some other Court, if it appears to them to be in the interests of the Order to do so. If you write to the Foresters about your Certificate or on any other subject, be sure to give the name and number of your Workmen’s Lodge. I desire to extend to you a hearty and cordial welcome to our Society. Sincerely and Fraternally yours, Geo. E. Bailey Supreme Secretary.
