Mortgage agreement from John Snedden to Robert Bryson. There was $650 owing for the mortgage. It is two pages in length. Document is written and printed in black ink on white paper.
Transcription is as follows:
This Indenture
Made (in duplicate) the Eleventh day of June one thousand eight hundred and eighty three
Between John Snedden of the township of Ramsay in the county of Lanark, Yeoman hereinafter called the ASSIGNOR of the First Part and Robert Bryson of the town of Almonte in the said county of Lanark, seuterman [spelling known] hereinafter called the ASSIGNEE of the second Part. Whereas by a Mortgage dated on the twenty fifth day of march one thousand eight hundred and eighty [something was originally written here but has since been crossed out] Alexander M Leau of the town of Almonte in the said county of Lanark, miller did grant and Mortgage the land and premises therein described to his land John Snedden his heirs and assigns for securing the payment of the sum of six hundred and fifty dollars and there is now owing upon the said Mortgage the said sum of six hundred and fifty dollars [dollars appears to have been added in later and is written above the line] and interest thereon at the rate herein mentioned since [spelling uncertain] the twenty fifth day of march A.D. 1883

Now this Indenture Witnesseth, that in consideration of six hundred and fifty dollars of lawful money of Canada now paid by the said Assignee to the said Assignor (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) THE said Assignor DOTH HEREBY ASSIGN and set over unto the said Assignee his executors, administrators and assigns ALL that the said before in part receipted Mortgage, and also the said sum of six hundred and fifty dollars and the interest thereon now owing as aforesaid together with all moneys that may hereafter become due or owing in respect of the said Mortgage and the full benefit of all powers and of all covenants and provisoes contained in said Mortgage. And also full power and authority to use the name or names of the said Assignor his heirs executors administrators or assigns for enforcing the full performance of the covenants and other matters and things contained in the said Mortgage. And the said Assignor Doth Hereby Grant and convey unto the said Assignee his heirs and assigns, ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate lying and being in the town of Almonte in the county of Lanark in the province of Ontario and Dominion of Canada being composed [spelling uncertain] of all that part of lot number thirty four on Brae street in the said village of Almonte as laid down on Bell’s General Plan [spelling uncertain] of the said village registered in the Registry office for the north riding of the county of Lanark not heretofore conveyed by the said John Baird to one Henry Stafford. Also all that other certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate lying and being in the village of Almonte aforesaid and being composed of a part of Lot number twenty six on Farm Street in the said village of Almonte and which may be better known and described as follows that is to say commencing at a post planted at the North-Easterly and of said Lot twenty six where its easterly boundary ceases in the boundary of Lot number thirty four on Brae Street as shown on the aforesaid plan thence along the boundary between Lot number twenty six on Farm Street and Lot number thirty one on Brae Street forty four feet six inches to a post planted thence at right angles to the said boundary of forty four feet six inches to the boundary between Lots thirty four and twenty six thence along said boundary twelve feet to the place of beginning containing five hundred and thirty feet be the same more or less
To have and to hold, the said Mortgage and all moneys arising in respect of the same and to accrue thereon, and also the said lands and premises thereby granted and mortgaged TO THE USE of said Assignee his heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely forever; but subject to the terms contained in such Mortgage.
And the said Assignor for himself his heirs executors administrators and assigns DOTH HEREBY COVENANT with the said Assignee his heirs executors administrators and assigns that the said Mortgage is a good and valid Security and that the sum of Six hundred and fifty dollars and the interest thereon as before mentioned is now owing and unpaid and that he hath not done or permitted any act matter or thing where or thing whereby the said Mortgage has been released or discharged either partly or in entirety AND THAT he will upon request do perform and execute every act necessary to enforce the full performance of the covenants and other matters contained therein.
