Isobel Collie was born in Russel and grew up in Kars before moving to Ottawa and studying at Lisgar Collegiate. In 1945 she met her husband Jack Collie in the hospital while he was recovering from pneumonia after returning from WWII and she was delivering Christmas presents from the Protestant Girls Club.
